Colleton River Club Friends of Habitat

Colleton River Club (CRC) Friends of Habitat have been deeply involved in both funding and constructing affordable housing in the Low Country over the last twenty years. Having financially sponsored fifteen houses and worked on many others, Colleton River Club members have had an immense direct impact on many hard-working families in this area who needed a safe, decent place to live, including several members of Colleton River Club staff.

This past year, Hilton Head Regional Habitat and the Beaufort affiliate merged to form Habitat for Humanity of the Lowcountry.  This is to reduce overhead and serve more families.  Before the merger, the two affiliates built 178 houses, and added another one in September.  The local Habitat affiliate’s goal is to complete 18 houses before the end of 2024.

Even with that we have accomplished, we also know that the need for local affordable workforce housing remains as high as ever. Habitat for Humanity of the Low Country continues to plan for supporting that need now and into the future. Work is now getting underway on a home on Walnut Street in Beaufort. Furthermore, plans are in place for three additional houses in Ridgeland to be built, with the first house starting in late winter.  CRC Friends of Habitat, through their donation of time and monies over the years, have demonstrated a higher level of caring and commitment to Habitat’s local efforts than any other local organization.

It’s also great to know that several staff members of the Colleton River Club are Habitat homeowners.  The link below is a story of Deloris.  Deloris worked in the kitchen of the Colleton River Club years ago.  Her story is a reminder of how our efforts are serving the people we see every day.

Many of you have made a donation in the past as CRC Friends of Habitat and have also supported construction of these very cost-effective homes with your labor efforts. We thank you for your prior support and hope that you will consider helping again.
