There are four basic requirements for the Habitat for Humanity Program:
1. RESIDENCY
Are you a citizen or permanent resident in the United States? Yes _____ No _____
Have you lived or worked in Beaufort or Jasper County for six (6) months or more? Yes ___ No ___
2. NEED
Your current living arrangements must be substandard, for example, dilapidated, overcrowded, in an unsafe neighborhood or too expensive (costing more than 30% of your income). Do you have a need for safe, decent housing that you don’t currently have? Yes ___ No ___
3. ABILITY TO PAY
Habitat for Humanity of the Lowcountry homeowners must have a stable, but very-low income as defined by HUD in the charts below. Applicants must have a reasonable (if not perfect) credit history. HUD guidelines are listed below according to family size.
Add up the income of every person who will live in your home and income that is expected to remain stable in the future. Include wages, disability, child support, etc.

4. WILLINGNESS TO PARTNER
You and other adult members of your household must be willing to work on other Habitat for Humanity of the Lowcountry homes before yours is started, to work on your own home, and to continue to work with Habitat for Humanity of the Lowcountry after you own your home. Are you willing to make this commitment to partner with Habitat? Yes ___ No ___
If you answered “No” to any question, you are NOT eligible for a Habitat home. If you answered yes, please keep checking back to our website and social media as to when we will be accepting applications.
If you checked yes to all of the questions, it does not not necessarily mean that you are eligible or will be accepted into the program, it just means that you may be eligible.
