Meet Pat Cooke and Jim Nagle--- the dynamic duo, husband and wife team that volunteers every Thursday at the ReStore. We are grateful for their time and skillset.

Pat greets our shoppers with her warm and friendly smile each week while working the cash register. She enjoys seeing familiar faces and interacting with the customers, staff, and volunteers at the ReStore. This role is a perfect fit for her as she has always been a very social person. Prior to retiring as the Club Membership Director at Wild Dunes in Isle of Palms, Pat has always worked in a role in which she can engage with the public. Jim, on the other hand, works “behind the scenes” to ensure that all of the small appliances and electronics are in working order and ready for resale. His successful background in electrical engineering comes in handy as he has a knack for this type of work. He is able to determine if electronics can be salvaged or repaired in order to be sold. This extra level of care and his attention to detail ensures shoppers that they are purchasing an item that is in working order.

Originally from the Boston area, Pat and Jim relocated to coastal South Carolina in 1994…in the midst of a snow storm! Although they miss their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they do not miss the snow! This twosome comes to us with a vast amount of volunteer experience. With one a Master Gardener and the other a Master Naturalist, their first encounter with Habitat was assisting with the landscaping at a Habitat house. Both have volunteered with many other local nonprofits and organizations. Pat shares that they choose to give their time and talents to serious charities that make a serious impact in the community.

When they are not volunteering, you can often find this active duo outside working in their yard. Along with many other plants, they grow Loofah-- and chances are you may have seen them at the Farmer’s Market selling their harvest. They both enjoy fishing and traveling, especially to our National Parks. The couple shares their excitement for an upcoming trip to Scotland this spring.

LowCounty Habitat is blessed to have this husband and wife team supporting our ReStore and mission. Thank you Pat and Jim for making a difference in our community!
